Malta

The Mediterranean island of Malta is a passion of mine. I lived here for four years and love to write about this beautiful, bustling archipelago which has one of the most fascinating histories of anywhere on Earth. You can see the oldest free-standing temples in the world here; you’ll also find a modern, fast-paced economy that is changing Malta and the Maltese more quickly than anyone could have imagined ten years ago. The island chain still provides a great bolt-hole for people who want to unplug and relax – Gozo still has a ‘lost-in-time’ feel about it, and Comino has no cars (apart from the local farmer and the hotel) making it the perfect place to hike, relax and unwind.

Malta’s strategic position in the middle of the Mediterranean also makes it a hot-spot for wildlife. If you want to find out more about the birds, fish, flowers, trees, creepy-crawlies and wild spaces on the island, then my new book, Malta’s Top 10: A Guide to the Island’s Wildlife is for you. Find out more here.
